Oily skin of the face: what to do.

Oily skin of the face gives its owner a lot of inconveniences. Shining forehead, nose and cheeks, clogged pores, “blackheads” and acne – this is not a complete list of “surprises”of oily skin. Girls console themselves with the fact that with overcoming adolescence such problems will disappear, but these dreams do not always come true. Unnecessary gloss saddens both 25-year-old girls and 40-year-old ladies. Only systematic and properly selected care will help tame the excessive work of the sebaceous glands.

Oily skin of the face: what to do.

Pros and cons of oily skin

  • Excessive sebum secretion clogs the pores and interferes with the normal oxygenation of the epidermis. Hence the sallow complexion, blackheads, and small pustules occur. Along with the grease, make-up residues and dust get into the pores. It is very difficult to find products carrying about this type of skin: ordinary moisturizers and nourishing creams only aggravate the situation. Apply a remedy for normal or dry skin to your face and it will pay off with subcutaneous inflammation and acne. The use of a foundation leads to similar consequences, besides, in some hours even ultra-durable make-up will flow. The greasy shine has to be removed regularly with paper napkins, which is not always convenient.

Despite the above disadvantages, oily skin has some significant advantages over other types. It is not inclined to early aging since a thin layer of skin secretion on the face prevents chapping and serves as a kind of UV filter. Yes, it is rough – but it does not suffer from hypersensitivity and a constant feeling of tightness and dryness. The oily epidermis is very elastic and regenerates quickly, so scars and scars heal quite quickly.

Reasons for the sudden “activation” of the sebaceous glands

Sometimes the skin type changes quite unexpectedly – yesterday you did not have any problems but now … In the morning you wake up and see comedones and acne in the mirror out of nowhere. The forehead and tip of the nose seemed to be smeared with fat, small rashes appeared on the cheeks. What triggered a dramatic change in the “mood” of your epidermis?

In most cases, the skin becomes oily due to improper care. If you abuse peels and other exfoliating agents believing that you need to cleanse your face “until it squeaks,” then there is nothing to be surprised at. Normally, the skin has the thinnest “veil” of secretions, which retains moisture in the deep layers of sebium, preventing dehydration. Using a scrub daily will remove this layer. Sebum begins to be produced with a vengeance, trying to restore the balance disturbed by detergents. Therefore choose a fine exfoliant and apply it once maximum twice a week. Choose a quality wash gel or foam for every day use.

Lovers of cakes, soda and smoked food suffer from excessive oily skin due to their taste preferences. Such food is poorly digested, the stomach is “rebellious”, so acne and a hateful gloss appear on your face. Try to reduce the use of such products, or replace cakes with marmalade and dried fruits and soda with freshly squeezed juice.

Pregnancy, abortion and other hormonal “explosions” are also displayed on the female skin in not a ggod way. Due to a jump in estrogen and a decrease in testosterone (which normally should be present not only in the male, but also in the female body), the epidermis can become too dry or, conversely, too oily. Unfortunately, nothing can be done about this – all that remains is to maintain the cleanliness and freshness of the face with the help of special cosmetics until childbirth or the end of hormone therapy. If you are not pregnant but have thyroid problems, ask your doctor for appropriate tests.

Cleansing oily skin

What if you suffer from excessive sebum production? You need to start the fight for your face by choosing the right cleanser. Do not treat this stage of self-care as a banal disposal of dirt and dust. If you pay too little attention to this procedure, the number of acne and blackheads will grow exponentially. Microorganisms that cause inflammation in the upper layers of the skin multiply rapidly in the sebaceous secretion.

To cope with high fat content, you will have to wash your face at least 3 times a day. A gel or mousse for cleansing the skin of the face should contain an antiseptic – salicylic acid, tea tree essential oil, zinc, benzoyl, blueberry or eucalyptus extract. Make sure that the gel does not consist of alkalis, parabens and dimethicone – petroleum products and mineral oils only contribute to the formation of fat and “clogging” the pores. For a rare combination of oily and sensitive types, a soft foam or fluid with calendula, glycerin or chamomile is suitable.

Never wash your face with hot water! The opinion that it dissolves sebaceous plugs and promotes deep cleansing is just a myth. The high temperature “awakens” the glands, and within half an hour after washing your face, your reflection in the mirror will resemble a pancake oiled. Rinse off the cleanser from your face with cool, or what is even better, cold water. It tightens pores and tones the skin, restoring it to a healthy look.

You can exfoliate oily skin with scrubs only when acne and comedones are drying up. If your face “blooms”, and you regularly rub it with different peels, do not expect improvement. Scrubbing particles “rip off” the head of the inflammatory element and spread the infection to healthy areas of the epidermis.

Use a chemical peel with fruit acids once a month. AHA acids penetrate deeply into pores and help to open them. It will also help to get rid of post-acne, keloid scars and red spots.

An antibacterial toner completes the process of cleansing oily skin. This cosmetic product should have astringent properties to dry out inflammation and minimize pores after washing or mechanical cleansing of the face. The tonic is applied to a cotton swab or disc and spread evenly, following the direction of the massage lines. The “forbidden” components include, in addition to alcohol: sodium lauryl sulfate, formaldehyde, neolon, acrylamide and phenolphthalein.

Treatment masks for oily skin

Masks when using regularly can relieve you of greasy shine, enlarged pores and acne. They should be used 2-3 times a week. Before the procedure, the skin must be cleansed thoroughly. The fatty epidermis has a very dense structure, so masks designed to solve its problems can “tingle”, pinch or tighten the face during the action of the active ingredients.

Products based on white or blue clay are very useful for this skin type. Such masks draw out impurities from the pores and remove excess sebum from the face. Oily skin will be grateful if it also contains rosemary and lavender oils (rosemary kills disease-causing bacteria, and lavender eliminates redness and small rashes).

If your nose is covered with blackheads and looks like ripe strawberries, special face plasters will also come in handy. With their help, you can do deep pore cleansing as often as you want. Sticky nose strips are glued to skin that is abundantly moistened with water. After 10-15 minutes, the plaster is removed with a fast movement with contents of the pores – “columns” of dirt and fat. After carrying out all the manipulations the skin of the face should be moisturized with a cream or gel.

Moisturizing and nourishing care

The oily consistency of creams designed for dry or normal skin is completely unacceptable for your type. For those who constantly suffer from increased activity of the sebaceous glands, only a light fluid or a moisturizing gel is suitable. Yes, it’s a moisturizer. The fact that your skin begins to shine in half an hour after washing does not mean that it is oversaturated with moisture. Also use an emulsion based on thermal water or aloe juice before applying makeup. Regular hydration improves the complexion and accelerates the healing of inflammatory elements.

Evening care for oily skin should be completed with an overnight treatment. Here you can indulge in richer textures, as at night the skin “rests” from make-up, dust and dirt. For these purposes a nourishing cream without silicones and fats in the composition is perfect.

Did you know that oily skin is practically defenseless against UV radiation? In the summer, when the sun shines especially brightly, it is necessary to use a day cream with a sunscreen factor as a base for makeup.

Acne and greasy skin gloss is not a sentence. With regular and careful care, as well as proper nutrition, the problems of oily skin can be at least minimized.
